Curriculum Mapping

GymZOOnasium is mapped to the Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework. We provide the following mapping documents to assist with your curriculum planning.

Exercise Categories and Uses

Feel free to use the attached documents to identify which GymZOOnasium exercises are beneficial at particular times or to achieve particular outcomes.

Certificates

The attached certificates are helpful for acknowledging each student’s unique achievements and contributions.

Journal

These are a great tool for extending the GymZOOnasium program for your class and achieving additional outcomes identified in the Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework.

Lesson Plans

“Practise makes better”. This booklet helps encourage students to practise their exercises more often. Print this booklet for students to record, celebrate and take valuable notes on their practise sessions.

GymZOOnasium Spirit and Safety

Create a safe environment for the children to exercise in. Do a quick safety check before each session.
Use each exercise’s Watch Points (in The Zoo section of the website) to support students to achieve the correct technique
Assist students with exercise modifications, progressions and/or balance as needed
Seek parental/medical approval for participants with high risk medical conditions
Encourage students to drink water before/after
Provide positive feedback and encouragement
Foster a fun, positive GymZOOnasium experience for each student
Engage parents/carers in the program, to encourage exercise at home also
Encourage your class to celebrate each student’s unique achievements
Participate in the exercises yourself also if possible, for healthy role modelling and to benefit your own health and wellbeing
