Uses

  • Use this exercise to assist with hamstring lengthening, to enable children to complete the Caterpillar Crawl
  • Useful to do before gross motor activities (e.g. high jump)

Instructions

  1. Sit on the floor with your legs in a ‘V’ shape
  2. Bend forward with a straight back, moving your chest towards the floor
  3. Hold for 10 deep breaths

Watch Points

  • Legs straight
  • Bending forward at your pelvis, so your back stays straight and chest stays proud (shoulders back)

Do the Panda Sit with:

  • One leg bent and that knee pointed out to the side.  Lean forwards with a straight back to feel a stretch on the inside of the straight leg.

Seated in a chair:

  • Use your hands to push your knees apart.  Lean forward with your back straight.
